Miami Dade College has been recognized once again as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Scholars for the 2024-25 academic year, a prestigious distinction awarded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) for having the highest number of candidates selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Programs.
MDC is one of only two colleges that confer associate degrees with two scholars selected for the 2024-25 program: West and Homsetead Campuses President Dr. Beverly Moore-Garcia, who received the Fulbright International Education Administrators Award, and North Campus Psychology Professor, Dr. Ginny Peterson-Tennant. Since 1978, 22 faculty members have participated in the program, visiting Germany, Japan, Hungary and Indonesia, among other countries.
“At Miami Dade College, our mission is to develop engaged global citizens who will go on to make a positive impact in our community and beyond, through the power of education,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to student success by fostering collaboration, promoting international exchange and building lasting connections that enrich the learning experience.”
On February 28, 2025, MDC held it’s first Fulbright Day to celebrate all the College’s Fulbright faculty scholars throughout the years. It was an opportunity to gather as one community to uplift and acknowledge MDC’s faculty scholars.
